Students of Vidya Vikas Academy participated in All Goa Chess Championship organised by Manipal Hospital along with Panjim Chess Academy, affiliated to Goa State Chess Academy, at Don Bosco, Panjim on 4th and 5th of December 2010. VVA was one of the schools with the highest number of participants. There were 37 students from KG to class 7 who took part in the tournament. On 4th December, the torunament started at 4.30 pm and went on till 8.00 pm in the evening. All students got to play 3 rounds each. On Sunday, 5th December, the tournament started at 9.30 in the morning and finished at 7.00 pm in the evening. They all got to play 3 rounds in the morning, followed by lunch and later in the day 2 rounds. All the players from Vidya Vikas Academy gave a tough fight to their respective opponents.
Ritviz Parab from class 5 B won the 3rd place in the clas 5 to 7 category. The school received 5 chess boards and a timer for their high number of participants. Some students were also given certificates for their sportive performance.
