RakshaBandhan Celebrated

The pre-primary section of Vidya Vikas Academy celebrated RakshaBandhan on 24th of August, a festival, which celebrates the relationship between a brother and a sister. It is celebrated on the full moon of the month of Shraavana. The festival is marked by the tying of a rakhi, or holy thread by the sister on the wrist of her brother. The brother in return offers a gift to his sister and vows to look after her as she presents sweets to her brother. It is not necessary that the rakhi be given only to a blood brother; any male can be "adopted" as a brother by tying a rakhi on the person, irrespective of whether he is related or a good friend.
This is all what, our pre-primary teachers foccussed on and made our pupils aware of the Indian culture. The Resource Room Children also celbrated the festival and tied rakhi's to all the gent staff including Principal, Alan Rodrigues.

Re-enforcing the bond of love between brother and sister, we at the Academy organized a ‘Rakhi Making Competition’, between classes 1 to 5. The coordinator for the activity was Tr. Mitzie, the Art Teacher. The activity was organized in respective classes.
The students worked with great excitement and detail to put for their creativity. The Rakhis were later displayed in class and the winners (the best three from each division) with their photographs were put up on the display board.
