HAPPY DIWALI / EID MUBAARAK

Students of VVA conducted a special assembly on 27th Oct,2010 on the eve of festival of Diwali and Id-uz-Zauha which will be celebrated in mid November. The school was decorated with colourful flowers, diyas and rangoli.Pupils of the pre-primary enacted the play of Ramayana depicting the life of Lord Rama, Sita and Laxman and their fourteen years of exile and their return to Ayodhya.

While the pupils of the primary and secondary demonstrated the various traditions of Diwali. (Lighting of Lamps, significance of Laxmi Puja, Bhau Bij, Tulsi Puja etc).Diwali celebration was followed by the celebration of Id-uz-Zauha. Miss. Siya and Miss. Petalia of class 4 explained and narrated the story of the sacrifice of Prophet Ibraham and his son Prophet Ismail. The celebration was followed by fireworks and the children danced to various songs and had a fantastic time.

Skit Competition Held

October 11th to 13th, the students of class 3 to 5 were given an opportunity, to channel their talent and learning outside the classroom, through a 'skit competition'.

The skits showcased a message like - Honesty, Pollution, Saving Trees. Students of class 1 and 2 spoke confidently on 'People who help us', in our daily life. Such co-curricular activities help students to read, observe and learn more, All in an attempt to 'tune' their skills. The event was co-ordinated by Tr. Betsy Ferrao.

Making a SPLASH!

The Pre-Primary kids had a wonderful time playing in the splash pool. However their teachers had a tough time to control them at the pool venue.

But who knows, we may have a future Olympic Gold Medalist Channel Swimmers in this group of Water Babies.

Are Laptops better than Textbooks? - You Choose

Students of classes 9 A & 9 B had a lively debate on Monday, 25th October 2010, whether Laptops are better than Textbooks.The proponents were Sachi Angle, Anjali Mascarenhas, Shorya Chaturvedi, Chetan Assoldekar, Seinrich Gomes, Kavita Mallya, Raul de Gouveia Pinto and Shannon Fernandes. The opponents were Tahira Menezes, Valeska Faleiro, Aaron Alphonsus, Sweezel Aguiar, Armando Alvares, Shubham Raikar and Yashna Luthra.The opponents won with a score of 18 points against the proponents who scored 15 points. Tr. Shaefali Lendhay was the moderator and judged the participants. Students of class 8 and class 6 also witnessed the debate.

VVA Triumphs - Table Tennis Tournament

Directorate of Sports & Youth Affairs had organised the Table Tennis Tournament on 8th August 2010 at the Indoor Stadium, Campal Panjim. The VVA team U-17 made it to win the State Level Championship by 3-0 against Sharda Mandir School, Miramar Panjim. The Team comprised of Miss. Eleanor Do Rosario of class 10, Miss. Delilah Furtado of class 8, Miss. Tanvi Raikar and Miss. Nishika Manira both of class 6.At the Taluka Level, our team won by 3-0 against Manovikas School, Margao, and at the District Level they won by 3-0 against Wagle High School, Ponda.

VVA wishes Shri. R. G. Kare on his 76th Birthday

Principal, Vice-Principal, some of the staff members along with some students of Vidya Vikas Academy visited Shri R. G. Kare, President of Vidya Vikas Mandal to wish him on his 76th Birthday, 18th October.
The staff members and students presented a bouquet of flowers on behalf of all the staff and students of VVA. The pupils expressed their love, respect and appreciation by presenting a card made by the pupils themselves.Students also sang songs and expressed their joy.

Term I - Open House held

The Progress Report Card of the first term exam was held on 16th October, 2010. The parents were seen with their children discussing their child's progress with the teachers.

VVA Staff keeps up the tradition - wins Football match by 9-4 against Students

The students and staff of VVA played a football match on the VVM Campus ground on 15th October, 2010.
In the first half, the staff were leading by 5-2 score. Students of class 5 to 10 and the other staff members the sporting spectators seen cheering the staff and the students.At the second half the students came on the ground with the spirit to win the match, unfortunately, they considered 4 more goals against 2. The staff won the match by 9-4 margin.

Pre-Primary students celebrate NAVRATRI

The Pre-Primary students of Vidya Vikas Academy participated in the special assembly held to mark the Navratri and Dusshera festival which will be celebrated on Sunday the 17th October 2010.
The teachers explained the students the significance and narrated the mythological story for why this festival is celebrated. The children enjoyed playing the Garba dance and Dandiya Raas.

Happy Birthday Dearest Principal

October 14, birthday of our dearest Principal, Sir, Alan Rodrigues. There was a lot of excitement in the school.
The pupils expressed their love, respect and appreciation through a prayer service and presentation of a card from each class, made by the pupils themselves.
Students also sang songs and presented a dance. Mrs. Bhide presented a bouquet of flowers on behalf of all the teaching and non-teaching staff.
