



The teachers narrated the story of Holi celebrations. The children enjoyed playing Holi with 'pichkaris' and 'gulal' and singing and dancing to the beats of Dholaks.
Vidya Vikas Academy has been shortlisted for Stage 2 of the Stamp Design Challenge Competition. In this stage, the students will work with an international team which will consist of three schools from India, two from Srilanka and one from UK. The teams have been decided by British Council panellist.
This art activity enabled students to bring out their creative best. Mrs. Hema Cacodcar guided the students.
Resource room children from V.V.A participated in this Special Olympics. The sports meet flaged off with a march past and the hoisting of the flag.
Medals and Certificates were awarded to the students at the venue. Principal Dr.Alan Rodrigues also congratulated the students at a special assembly held in the school on account of International Women's Day.A special assembly was conducted for the students of Classes 5 to 9. Students of Class 5 had a prayer service at the assembly. Principal Alan Rodrigues also addressed the gathering. Mrs. Wilma Alphonso co-ordinated the event.
On this occasion, Principal also gave away the certificates to students as well teachers who participated in the Pitch Black Project III organised by Creatiwity Works in Association with Sports Authority of Goa in the month of February. This project was an attempt to give an exposure of professional dancing to the under-priviledged children and also breaking the different barriers between the under-previledged and the previledged children bringing them together through this event.
Vidya Vikas Academy had the largest number of students as participants comprising of 12 teams of 3 members each. The students were from classes 5 to 9. The preliminary round was a written round and 2 teams comprising of Julian D’Costa, Kenneth Da’Silva and Nikita Raposo and Karthika Pai Vernekar, Sailee Prabhudessai and Junaid Shaikh made it on stage for the finals. However they finished at 4th and 6th place respectively.
The quiz was very interesting and the questions framed basically focused on Women Power in the World. All the students were given participation certificates. Mr. Sarvadnya Sambari and Mrs. Shilpa Sukumaran accompanied the students and co-ordinated.
These projects were group projects and the students were divided into 4 groups. The studen also wore different costumes to suite their character in the play. Tr. Pamela Torcato reviewed the projects.
In another drawing competition organised by Sri Sri Institute of Management Studies on the theme 'India Lies in You' which was held at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao on 25th February 2011, Master Sairaj Phal Desai of Class 7 secured 2nd place in the competition.
