VVA students do us proud !

Vidya Vikas Academy conducted a Poetry/Short Story Writing/Essay Writing & Painting Contest in the month of July for the classes 6 to 9. The Theme was : Nuclear Weapon Free World. A number of these entires were sent to the Coalition for Nuclear Disarmament and Peace, Delhi as they have appealed to dedicate this years 'Human Rights Day' on 10 Dec. 2010 to the Theme 'Right to a Nuclear Weapon Free World is a Human Right'.
The results of this competition organised by them was declared on October 2nd 2010. The following students have been awarded prizes, which will be awarded to them on Dec. 9th. at the 10th Anniversary Convention of CNDP in New Delhi.

The Thanksgiving Mass & Pooja Held

The annual thanksgiving mass & the pooja was held on 9th Oct 2010. The mass was held at the Holy Spirit Church, Margao, while the pooja was held in the VVA School premises.
The mass was held at 9:00 am, Fr.Jena was the celebrant. The school choir sang the hymns and the various prayers were read by students and teachers.

The pooja started at 9:00 am, Lord Ganesh and Goddess Saraswati were worshiped, the Aarti was offered to the dieties at 1:00 pm and later the prassad was distributed to the members of the mangement, staff, students and their parents.
The mass & the pooja were well attended by the students and their parents.

VVA U-17 Football Team declared as Most Promising Team

Assumta Convent, Sarzora, organised U-17 inter-school Football Tournament which was held on Sarzora ground on 26th September 2010.
Though the VVA team lost in the first round via penalties, they gave a spirited performance and won the Most Promising Team Award.

Resource Room get ready for Diwali

The festivals of light “Deepavali” or “Diwali” is just a month to go. The children of the ‘Resource Room’ have already made “Decorative diyas”, “Greetings cards”, “Miniature Aakash Divos” to hang in the cars or at the doors. These items are available for sale at the Vidya Vikas Academy campus.

Party Time for Pre-Primary Kids

The Pre-Primary students of the Academy had a fun filled cooking experience.
The children carefully observed the teachers and learnt to make sandwiches and above all thoroughly enjoyed eating them

Tribute paid to Father of Nation on his birth anniversary

A special assembly was conducted by the students of class 7 and also the pre-primary section of Vidya Vikas Academy to mark the Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi which is celebrated throughout the country on 2nd of October.
Julian & Liza read a speech on The Life of Mahatma Gandhi, followed by quotes written by Mahatma Gandhi. Ms. Shareen receited a short poem on Gandhiji followed by a quiz put forth by Daniel. Karthik was dressed as Mahatma Gandhi.A drawing contest was conducted for the students of Class 5C wherein they were free to draw anything regarding Gandhiji or his life. A cleanliness drive was carried out by the students of class 10 which involved cleaning of the corridors, park and the playground of the school. A chart was prepared by students of class 7 which was displayed on the notice board showing pictures on The Life of Mahatma Gandhi.
Tr. Vichye trained the students and co-ordinated the entire programme for the day.

They Did It !!! They Did It !!!

At the Shakespeare Festival organised by Smt. Parvatibai Chowgule College of Arts & Science on 24th Sept. 2010, Karen Paul Pereira of class 8 won the 1st prize, reciting Sonnet 18 for the event : THE BARD, and Charles Elton da Gloria Furtado of clas 9 won the 2nd prize soliloquizing Hamlet's To be or not to be.
Tr. Pamela Torcato trained the students and co-ordinated.

Shorya Chaturvedi - One Day Pilot at INS HANSA

Master Shorya Chaturvedi of Class 9, a talented NCC Cadet of VVA had a life time experience when he visited INS Hansa, the Naval Air Base in Goa. He was guided by Lt.Cdr R.K Laxman, a highly experienced naval aviator since last 18 years.

He operates a twin blade helicopter Kamov 31, which is used for spying, patrolling and war. Cadet Shorya saw IC 38 Sea Dragon its special features are radar detecting devices, high profile warfare and four turbo-prop engines. After Sea Dragon, Shorya explored Sea Harriers which is the only VSTOL (Vertical Short take-off and landing) aircraft serving Indian Navy since 1922 and will retire in 2015.He also got an opportunity to see Topelo the biggest aircraft in Indian Navy followed by MiG-29K a supersonic aircraft, after which he went to Sea-Harrier Simulator to operate it, which was really a thrilling experience for him.

Eid Mubaarak / Happy Ganesh Chathurti

The Students of Vidya Vikas Academy and its Pre-Primary pupils had a special assembly to celebrate Eid which will be celebrated tomorrow across the globe and Ganesh Chathurti which will be celebrated for 21 days in the month of September, 11th and 12th of September being the main days of the festival.

The students participated with great fervor and joy in their hearts. The students enacted a small skit expressing the importance of the festivals. They recited Namaz (prayers) and sang a prayer song devoted to Allah.

The students also performed Ganesh Pooja and recited Aarti. While the students of the primary enacted as Lord Shiv-Shankar, Goddess Parvati and Lord Ganesh, the students of pre-primary worshiped the clay idol of Lord Ganesh and performed pooja. The students also distributed sweets and kheer as a part of this festivity.
To sum up, the mood and atmosphere at VVA was very festive and blissful. We at VVA wish you all Eid Mubaarak and Happy Ganesh Chaturthi.

Thank You Teacher - Teachers Day Celebrated

A truly fascinating program was presented by the pupils of Vidya Vikas Academy to felicitate their teachers on Teacher's Day which was celebrated on 3rd & 4th of September, 5th September being a Sunday.
Conceived and executed entirely by the pupils, every minute detail was taken care of. They expressed their love for their teachers in song, dance and drama, prayers and speeches too.
It was so rewarding to see the confidence, exuberance and love of our children as well as their talents and skills at organizing, choreography, drama and public speaking. It was also really touching to see our ex-students at the Academy to wish their beloved teachers.
Beautiful cards made by the children, expressed their love for their teachers. The mood was festive and the air was filled with joy and laughter.

Children, you are our world, you are why we are here. Thank you and God bless you.
